BioNPK Powder S contains beneficial microorganisms that convert nutrients N, P, K into plant-available forms, improving nutrient uptake. Mycorrhizal fungi enhances phosphorus and water absorption while protecting roots from pathogens, and Trichoderma viride fungus promotes healthy strong root development, plant growth and resistance to stress factors. Applied in water with an adjuvant, BioNPK Powder S can be used as a soil treatment or seed coating, is compatible with other biologicals, fertilisers, pesticides and liquid urea sprayed onto bare soil at 100–200L of water per application.

About this variety

Bio NPK Powder S is a highly concentrated microbial biofertiliser, and it works on the three major nutrients by three different mechanisms.

Nitrogen it fixes from the atmosphere, converting it into forms the plant can take up. Phosphorus it solubilises: most soils hold considerably more phosphorus than plants can access, locked into compounds that roots cannot use, and the microbes release it. Potassium it mobilises from soil reserves in the same way.

Alongside the nutrient effect it enhances root systems and improves soil structure, and it strengthens plant resistance to abiotic stresses such as drought.

Microbial biostimulants of this type have been shown to improve both the physical and biological properties of soil, including root development, water holding capacity and general microbial activity, and increased microbial activity is what drives nutrient availability over the longer term.

It suits growers reducing reliance on synthetic fertiliser, or looking to get more out of the nutrient reserves a paddock already holds, and it promotes soil biodiversity as it works.

Planting & grazing notes

Dissolve required amount in a separate container before adding to sprayer; add BioNPK Powder S last, after other crop protection products/fertilisers. Compatible with most biological products, fertilisers and pesticides, and with liquid urea (use prepared solution within 6 hours when mixed with liquid urea). Avoid mixing with substances exhibiting strong biocidal properties. Store in tightly closed containers, cool/dry/well-ventilated, 5-30°C, protect from sunlight, keep away from heat/sparks/flames, keep out of reach of children. Classified non-hazardous; prolonged eye/skin/respiratory contact may still cause irritation — cover open wounds when handling (MSDS).

Disease & pest resistance

Some strains carry biological pathogen-suppression claims (Bacillus licheniformis "secretes antipathogenic compounds"; Bacillus subtilis "colonizes plant root zone which results in improved defense against pathogens"; Trichoderma viride "secretes fungicidal compounds... providing both direct and indirect defense against pathogens") — a biological-control claim, not a formal disease-resistance rating. It enhances root systems, improves soil structure, and strengthens plant resistance to abiotic stresses like drought.

Is there a biological product I can spray to help with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake?

Yes, we stock BioNPK Powder S, a microbial biostimulant used as a soil treatment or seed coating. Its beneficial bacteria convert nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium into forms plants can use. How much BioNPK Powder S do I use as a soil spray?

For a soil spray, the label rate for all crop types is 0.25 kg/ha of BioNPK Powder S. Dissolve it in 100 to 400 litres of water per hectare, with an adjuvant, and spray before or at sowing, or up until there is cover between the rows. Dissolve the powder in a separate container before adding it to the tank.

Can I coat pasture seed with a microbial product before sowing?

Yes. BioNPK Powder S can be used as a seed coating. For pasture seed the rate is 2 kg per tonne in a total solution of 1 litre per tonne. For legumes such as beans and peas, and for wheat and canola, the rate is 1 kg per tonne in 10 litres per tonne. It promotes strong early root development.

What can I add at sowing to help crops and pastures cope with a dry finish?

We suggest BioNPK Powder S. The manufacturer says it strengthens plants' resistance to drought and other stresses by promoting healthy, strong root development. Its mycorrhizal fungi increase water and phosphorus uptake. Apply it as a soil spray at 0.25 kg/ha or as a seed coating at sowing.

Can I mix a biological with my fertiliser or herbicide in the spray tank?

BioNPK Powder S is compatible with most biologicals, fertilisers and pesticides, as well as liquid urea. Add it to the tank last, after other products. When mixing with liquid urea, use the solution within 6 hours. Avoid mixing it with products that have strong biocidal properties, as these can harm the microbes.

How much nitrogen can a nitrogen-fixing bacteria product actually supply?

The manufacturer of BioNPK Powder S says its Paenibacillus azotofixans bacteria can fix up to 50 kg/ha of nitrogen from the air. They also say its other bacteria can provide about 35 kg/ha of phosphorus and up to 30 kg/ha of potassium from soil minerals. Results will vary with soil, season and crop.

How should I store a microbial seed treatment powder?

Store BioNPK Powder S in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place between 5 and 30°C. Keep it out of sunlight, away from heat and flames, and out of reach of children. The product is classified as non-hazardous, but cover open wounds when handling it, as the microbes can cause irritation or allergy.

Is BioNPK Powder S safe to handle around people and animals?

The product is classified as non-hazardous, and the manufacturer states its fungi are known to be non-pathogenic to humans, animals and plants. Microorganisms can still be sensitising and may cause allergic reactions, and long contact may irritate eyes, skin or airways. We recommend gloves and eye protection, and cover open wounds.

Can I use a soil biology product on orchard trees or vegetables?

Yes. For plantation and orchard trees, BioNPK Powder S is applied at 1 gram per litre of water at the start of rooting and repeated every 3 months. For potatoes and other vegetables, the seed coating rate is 1 to 2 kg per tonne in 30 litres per tonne of solution. It also promotes soil biodiversity.

BioNPK Powder S vs a legume inoculant, do I need both?

They do different jobs. A legume inoculant supplies the specific rhizobia that clovers, medics and lucerne need to form nodules. BioNPK Powder S is a broader biostimulant that makes nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium more available and supports root growth. It is compatible with most biologicals, but check with us before combining it with inoculants.
