BioNPK Powder S contains beneficial microorganisms that convert the nutrients N, P and K into plant-available forms, improving nutrient uptake. Mycorrhizal fungi enhance phosphorus and water absorption, and Trichoderma viride fungus promotes healthy, strong root development, plant growth and resistance to stress factors. Applied in water with an adjuvant, BioNPK Powder S can be used as a soil treatment or seed coating.

About this product

BioNPK Powder S is a plant biostimulator: a microbiological product for soil treatment and seed coating. Its beneficial microorganisms convert nutrients (N, P, K) into forms accessible to plants and promote their uptake. Mycorrhizal fungus, by colonising plant roots, increases the capacity to absorb nutrients (especially P) and water.

Trichoderma viride fungus, by secreting bioactive compounds, promotes plant growth and increases plant resistance to stress factors. BioNPK Powder S promotes healthy and strong root development and faster plant growth, strengthens the plant's resistance to drought, and promotes soil biodiversity. Many IH Seeds mixes are supplied coated with BioNPK Powder S.

Planting & grazing notes

Soil application: mix the required amount with 100–400 L of water per hectare and spray onto bare soil before or at sowing, or until plants cover the inter-rows. Seed coating: pasture seed 2 kg/t, with a total solution rate of 1 L/t. Dissolve BioNPK Powder S in a separate container before filling the sprayer, and add it last, after other crop protection products and fertilisers. It can be mixed with many biological products, fertilisers and pesticides, and with liquid urea, in which case use the prepared solution within 6 hours. Avoid mixing with substances that have strong biocidal properties; fungicides have a negative impact. Store cool and dry at 5–30°C, out of sunlight. Microorganisms can be sensitising and cause an allergic reaction. Wear personal protective equipment when handling the product and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Coated seeds with a moisture content of 12–14% can be stored for up to a month with the least possible temperature fluctuations. Shelf life is 2 years from production, in tightly closed original packaging.

Many of our IH Seeds mixes are supplied already coated with it.

What can I add at sowing to help crops and pastures cope with a dry finish?

We suggest BioNPK Powder S. The manufacturer says it strengthens plants' resistance to drought and other stresses by promoting healthy, strong root development. Its mycorrhizal fungi increase water and phosphorus uptake. Apply it as a soil spray at 0.25 kg/ha or as a seed coating at sowing.

Can I mix a biological with my fertiliser or herbicide in the spray tank?

Yes, BioNPK Powder S can be mixed with many biological products, fertilisers and pesticides, as well as liquid urea. Dissolve it in a separate container first and add it to the tank last, after other products. Use a liquid urea mix within 6 hours. Avoid products with strong biocidal properties, and note that fungicides have a negative impact on the microbes.

How much nitrogen can a nitrogen-fixing bacteria product actually supply?

We don't publish a guaranteed nitrogen figure for BioNPK Powder S. Its beneficial microorganisms convert nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium into plant-available forms and improve nutrient uptake, while its mycorrhizal fungi help roots absorb phosphorus and water. Results will vary with soil, season and crop, so talk to us about how it fits into your fertiliser program.

How should I store a microbial seed treatment powder?

Store BioNPK Powder S in its tightly closed original packaging in a cool, dry place between 5 and 30°C, out of sunlight. Shelf life is two years from production. Seed coated with it, at 12 to 14% moisture, can be stored for up to a month with minimal temperature swings. Wear protective equipment when handling, as the microorganisms can be sensitising.

Talk to us first, as our published rates for BioNPK Powder S cover soil spraying and seed coating rather than orchard or vegetable programs. As a soil spray we use 0.25 kg/ha in 100 to 400 litres of water per hectare, and seed coating is 1 to 2 kg per tonne of seed. It also promotes soil biodiversity and strong root development.

BioNPK Powder S vs a legume inoculant, do I need both?

They do different jobs. A legume inoculant supplies the specific rhizobia that clovers, medics and lucerne need to form nodules. BioNPK Powder S is a broader biostimulant that makes nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium more available and supports root growth. It is compatible with most biologicals, but check with us before combining it with inoculants.
