About this seed blend
Nitro Mix is a unique combination of legumes designed to naturally boost soil fertility and farm productivity. These legumes form symbiotic relationships with nitrogen-fixing bacteria, capturing nitrogen from the atmosphere and converting it into a form plants can use. By providing a natural source of nitrogen, Nitro Mix reduces the need for synthetic fertilisers while improving soil structure, organic matter and water retention.
The combination of early and later flowering aerial seeded and subterranean clovers in this mix gives a good spread of production, extending the growing season and flowering. Legumes also create nutritious pastures with high protein and energy, supporting stronger animal performance.
As a cover crop the legumes also deliver regenerative benefits, preventing soil erosion, improving soil health and providing a habitat for beneficial insects. Whether used in pastures, vineyards or cropping rotations, Nitro Mix supports long-term soil fertility and a more sustainable farming system.
Paradana Balansa is tolerant to waterlogging and mild salinity, and Arrowleaf is adaptable to most soil types including deep acidic sands, but does not favour saline or highly alkaline.

Planting & grazing notes
Ideally spray out any existing pasture or persistent weeds and prepare an optimal seed bed, applying lime or gypsum if required. Ensure adequate soil moisture with the possibility of follow up rain. Plant as shallow as possible into a well-prepared seed bed; take care on sandy soils where seeding troughs can fill with wind-blown sand and bury the seed. If broadcasting, a light roller behind the drill improves seed to soil contact (not on wet soils that may crust). Initial establishment of Paradana Balansa can be slow in cool weather. Paradana Balansa should be lightly grazed in the first year, with limited grazing during flowering to allow for an adequate seed set, If cut for late silage or hay there will be limited regeneration.
Disease & pest resistance
Paradana Balansa has resistance to clover scorch, and Riverina Subterranean Clover has superior resistance to root rot.
Stand life
Paradana Balansa, Margurita serradella, Arrowleaf and Riverina carry high levels of hard seed for reliable regeneration, and Crimson and Hykon Rose clover self-regenerate when allowed to set seed.
